Tammy Rushing, Principal
My name is Tammy Rushing. I am the principal at Milan Elementary School. I am the principal at Milan Elementary School. This is my 3rd year as principal. I have been employed with Milan Special School District since 1990. While in Milan, I have taught middle school special education, 1st grade, Kindergarten, and 2nd grade. I was an assistant principal at Milan Elementary for five years and a Supervisor of Instruction for grades K-8 for two years. Before coming to Milan, I taught K-8 Special Education for two years in Dyer County. This is my 33rd year in education.
I am married to Howard Rushing and we have two children. Adam is 26 and graduated from Milan in 2011. Adam attended UT Martin and has a degree in Agriculture Business. Amanda is 23 and lives in Chattanooga. She graduated from Milan in 2014. Amanda attended UT Chattanooga and has a Human Resource and Business degree.
Being principal at Milan Elementary is one of my favorite jobs. I loved teaching, but as principal, I get to support the teachers as well as provide learning opportunities for the students. My goal each year is to provide a safe and successful learning environment for the students, faculty and staff of MES.
